Allahabad at a glance



Allahabad district is located at the confluence of Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati, popularly known as Triveni Sangam. The district is famous for its rich cultural heritage and religious importance. There are a number of small and large-scale industries in Allahabad district that play a vital role in the economy of the district. To name a few popular industries of the district are Triveni Sheet Glass Ltd Naini, ITI Naini, Raymond Synthetics Karchana, Hindustan Cable Ltd Naini, IFFCO Phulpur, and GEEP Industries. The renowned institutions like Harish Chandra Mehta Atomic Research Center and Civil Aviation Training Center are also established here.
Allahabad is also famous for producing prime ministers of India in some form or another. Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Gulzarilal Nanda, Vishwanath Pratap Singh and Chandra Shekhar were all either born in Allahabad, are alumni of Allahabad University or elected from a constituency in Allahabad. In total, Allahabad has produced 7 out of 14 Prime Ministers of India.culturally rich district of Allahabad is a favorite destination for pilgrims.

Millions of pilgrims come to visit the Kumbh Mela of Allahabad which is held after a gap of twelve years. Other tourist attractions are:
